LUXIT, the architectural brand of LEUCOS GROUP, illuminates the tribute-exhibition to industrial design that also sees it among exhibitors.
Milan, Fondazione Achille Castiglioni, 11-31 October 2013
“A design object is the result of the common effort of many persons with different and specific technical, industrial, commercial and aesthetic skills. The job of the designer is the expressive synthesis of this collective work”.
Achille Castiglioni summed up in these few lines the interaction between distinct and complementary competences existing behind every good product of industrial design. The Foundation dedicated to him presents today a new exhibition that turns the priciple into images and objects, through the creative example of a great design duo: Alberto Basaglia and Natalia Rota Nodari.
Castiglioni’s words can also be applied to LUXIT philosophy, which made design+technology its stylistic hallmark, will partecipate in the Milan event with two collections of fixtures created by Basaglia & Nodari pair.
Top Ten and Top Four, as they are called, are the evidence of how the border between technical lamps and decorative lamps is virtually deleted and even the term “lamp” should be redefined.
Top Ten is a lighting object that makes the maximum use of the extraordinary potential of LED technology. The range of available versions allows to satisfy the more different design requirements. You can appreciate this aspect visiting the Foundation’s headquarters, where the track version has been also selected for the general lighting of the exhibition spaces.
True tecnhology jewels are also the fixtures of Top Four range, conceived by Alberto Basaglia and Natalia Rota Nodari as an enlargement of the more architectural Top Ten family. The dimensions of these original lighting objects are small, but the emitted light is very powerful due to the lens that multiply the efficiency of 4 LEDs. And besides they are coloured and fun and remind us Lego bricks. An authentical micro-project where the collaboration between company and designer is fully exploited.
Are they beautiful? Are they functional? As Alberto and Natalia are used to say, only the final user has the role to judge a product of industrial design.
