Second edition of Quadrilegio, the contemporary art exhibition realised in partnership with the Italian lighting brand
The works of 40 artists on display untill July 31 in four different and contiguous sites of Parma city center: Alphacentauri, Ide&oggetti, BLL, Maura Ferrari
Opening on Friday May 24 from 9pm
LEUCOS is used to interpret the fine line between art and design with intense light works that give light to creativity.
The occasion to appreciate this special vocation of the Italian brand is Quadrilegio, the contemporary art exhibition that will liven up Parma city center for the second year running. As one of the main partners of the event, LEUCOS will propose some design classics and innovative pieces of its collection.
Untill July 31, art lovers and curious people will have the opportunity to admire this selection of fixtures together with the creations of 40 established and emerging artists who are the true protagonists of the show. The result is a well-made mix of beauty and talent made even more attractive by an excellent location: four different but contiguous galleries – from borgo Tommasini to piazzale Borri and borgo Riccio da Parma – where you can move and get in touch with your neighbour and the town.
On the evening of 24th May the official opening will take place, conceived as an original play of art connections and interlacements where good food and author-music will be protagonists as well, with corners and performances of Baroque, jazz and contemporary repertoire. And then there is LEUCOS light, diffused and revealed by five table and floor unique creations that enchant the mind even when turned off.
JJ is the progenitor of all table lamps with adjustable arm, “adopted” by LEUCOS and proposed to the public in compliance with the original model of 1937 by Jac Jacobsen. Its clean lines and rigorous aesthetic are the key features of its endless success.
The Great JJ is the name of the biggest floor version, loved so much by architects and designers due to its strong personality and the talent to provide style to every type of environment. LEUCOS exhibits in Parma both versions for indoor and outdoor applications: they look like art installations, surprising and coloured sculptures that join together the different spaces of the show.
Other two floor lamps launched last April during the Salone del Mobile in Milan illuminate Quadrilegio: Cloche and Shaker.
The idea of taking a pure shape and creating a gentle opening at its base gives life to the harmonious diffuser of Cloche that reminds vaguely a bell. The external coppering lends a solid and almost compact appearance to it, but when light is turned on, so comfortable and soft, copper seems to disappear and its white essence shows itself.
Shaker is a funny combination of ruby-red glass pebbles in an extra-pure glass cylinder. It is a fresh, lively and sonorous creation that interprets the strange idea of LEUCOS to invent a new cocktail of glass and light. The addition of curious and almost extempore details like the concrete base or the handle in iron rod crowns the ironic play of creation.
Eghoor 01 closes the selection of LEUCOS fixtures. An unusual and modern diffuser in white blown glass supported by a thin stem in glossy white compact resin characterizes this futuristic floor lamp capable of dialoguing with the most ardite art works on stage in Parma.
